Beltane Tarot Card Reading for Guidance on Relationships

Beltane Blessings, my pagan friends. Yes, I know, technically I’m a few days late to the party. But you see, pagan festivals don’t need to follow a strict calendar. We do it when we feel like it, and that is exactly what happened with my Beltane Tarot card reading for relationship guidance and advice.

For this Tarot card reading I have used the Oracle of the Dragonfae by Lucy Cavendish. This is a very precious deck of cards, one with which I feel a strong connection. Today’s reading was more powerful than I anticipated and has left me reeling with the strength of its message. See if it resonates as strongly with you and your situation:

Beltane Tarot Card Reading for Guidance on Relationships

1, Works – The Sovereign

Gentle Power. Why must you seek validation from other people? They offer wisdom and guidance, but you know this already. You already walk their path, you have learned their lessons, and you could quote their words back to them. Now you must make your own path in matters of business. Do it your way.

2, Home – Chumara

Web of All Life. What are you hiding from? For years you have become settled behind a mask as you fulfilled the role expected of you. Now it is time to remove that mask and show yourself as you truly are. Perhaps you can begin to repair broken relationships but do it on your terms. You cannot remake something to be the same as it was. That is not for you. It they cannot live with You, they do not deserve your time or energy.

3, Unexpected – Gwynne & Elluish

Attunement. You always knew you had a special connection. The world is far greater for you than it appears for other people. You see ethereal beings and you hear other voices. Do not dismiss them. Welcome them. Hear their wisdom. You are connected to both the higher and the lower realms of this world and you can travel freely between them. Explore the possibilities.

4, Your Role – Morgan le Fey

Healing. It is time to acknowledge your pain. You have battled alone for a long time and now you need to rest. Allow someone else to shoulder the burden. Accept help when it is offered. Take time out to recover and never struggle alone again. Your supporter will appear soon, and you will recognise them.

5, Outcome – Gaia’s Dragon

Divine Union. The one you seek is within reach. Now that you have experienced all that has passed, now you see the truth, now you are able to move on. You are wise, you see the full picture, and you see beyond the masks of people in your circles. With this wisdom you are able to find your missing piece, the person that you need. You will know them, and they will know you. Move on.

Summary

Wow! This Tarot card reading packed a punch. For me it was an instruction to move on with my life and leave behind an old relationship that no longer fits. I was stunned when I remembered that my last Tarot card reading with the Dragonfae Oracle was in August 2020, at a time when I made a life-changing decision. This reading very much continued the conversation, helping me to see what I must do next. It will not be easy, but I am strong with my ethereal, magickal friends for support.

My Chronic Pain Journey: A Huge Breakthrough

Yesterday marked a significant breakthrough in the treatment of my rare congenital disease, Lymphodoema Distichiasis.

My Treatment Plan for Rare Eye Disease by Catherine Green of SpookyMrsGreen.com pagan lifestyle blog.
My Treatment Plan for Rare Eye Disease

A Huge Breakthrough

I finally met the elusive doctor that I should have seen back in October (when I went to the wrong hospital). He immediately ordered a referral to my GP for me to have ECG/ECHO and have my heart monitored because heart defects are linked to this condition and so far, other doctors have ignored my concerns. Mr. Walker also focused on the chance of swelling in my legs as the condition leaves me at risk of blood clots.

As for the eyes… I am going to donate blood that will provide serum which should be in my tears, but my eyes don’t produce it naturally. Scientists will create a unique eyedrop solution for me that should relieve the inflammation and pain, and hopefully I can reduce the amount of eyedrops I use every day.

My mind is blown at the speed with which this happened once I saw a doctor who recognised my condition and knew how to treat it. Now I’m waiting for the next stages in the process.

How To Let Go And Achieve A Higher Level Of Consciousness

In the modern world, we have a lot of physical, external technologies. But we hardly know anything about the inner workings of our minds. We haven’t done any inner engineering. And that means that we’re walking around in a constant state of anxiety and suffering, wondering why the heck life has to be so hard.

But it turns out that there are other states of consciousness you can access. You don’t actually have to feel like you do right now. You can adopt a new way of being that isn’t the traditional Western analytical style. And it can feel really good.

How To Let Go And Achieve A Higher Level Of Consciousness

Letting go and achieving a higher state of consciousness can bring all kinds of benefits. It helps to bring more compassion and love into your relationships. It reduces your suffering. And it helps you attain a kind personal liberation where you no longer feel like you have to rely on external things to provide you with happiness.

Actually achieving these higher states of consciousness, however, seem like a bit of a mystery to the vast majority of people. They’re uncharted territory. And, in the West, we don’t have official channels allowing people to explore them, unlike in the East.

So what can you do to get to higher states of being and really enjoy your life in a fundamental way?

Reduce Thinking

The first place to begin is with thinking itself.

Be honest with yourself: how many times during the day does your mind entertain unwanted or unpleasant thoughts? If you’re like most people, it’s all the time. There’s this constant background chatter that causes massive swings in your mood and wellbeing.

It turns out, though, that you and your thoughts are not the same thing. If you can learn to switch them off, you can begin to experience a child-like state of consciousness. You just experience existence for what it is, without all the layers of thought and anxiety on top of it.

Reduce Your Fictions

The next step is to reduce your mind-made fictions.

Most people have a set idea of who they are, where they come from, why they are the way they are, and what they can achieve. And they believe in these ideas fiercely.

Achieving a higher level of consciousness, however, is all about letting go of these concepts. That way, you don’t limit your life or box yourself in.

Change Your Thought Processes

Thanks to mental health problems, online hypnotherapy is now the norm. The reason it’s so popular is that it helps people to change their unconscious thought processes. You might tell yourself that you’re free, but unless the unconscious mind believes it, your life won’t go in the direction you want it to go.

Reconfiguring your mind using various techniques, therefore, can help accelerate conscious awakening. The more practice you give it, the more liberated you become.

Using Your Brain To Serve You

Lastly, higher states of consciousness involve using your brain to serve you, not the other way around. You come to recognise that it’s not just something that generates pain, but a tool you can use for creating more bliss in your life.

#FrightfulReads – “Love Hurts (A Redcliffe Novel)”

Quivering with anticipation, let’s delve into a bone-chilling snippet:

“I was barefoot, and almost slipped down the stairs in my haste. I stood on tiptoes, looked through the peephole and saw the top of Jack’s head. He must be looking down for some reason. I flung open the door, and then gasped in horror. He was leaning against the doorframe, his face covered in blood from what looked like a large gash above his right eye, and several scratches and cuts on his cheeks and chin. His clothes were dirty, torn, and bloody, and he fell through the door into my arms.  Instinctively I tried to catch him, and fell to the floor with a cry, trying to support his weight.

“Jack!” I cried, “Jack can you hear me? Speak to me!”

My Books are Easy Reads; I’m OK with that #TheRedcliffeNovels

There is a world of adventure within the pages of all the books in the world. I know, this sort of thing has been said before. There are various memes and quotes circulating on social media to remind us of this.

But it is only since I became a professional writer that I began to look at my writing with a critical eye. I mean, when I was scribbling in my diaries, jotting down notes for stories, and lacking the confidence to allow anyone to see what I wrote, I didn’t need to concern myself with writing form, correct language and plot, and all the other nuances that go into creating a literary masterpiece.

My Books are Easy Reads

My novels have been described as easy reads. And I like that feedback. Yes, I do hold a dream of one day being recognised as a force of literary power and talent. But I also know that this kind of accolade comes with experience. I am still only at the beginning of a long career in writing. In the past ten years I have published eight novels and several short stories and have started writing a further four novels. That is a pretty good achievement while I raised children, dealt with family crisis, built a freelance career and then coped in the pandemic as a single parent.

Redcliffe novels are written for pleasure

The Redcliffe novels are written for pleasure. They provide passion, romance, adventure and danger. They offer a chance to escape from the real world, and to immerse yourself in a parallel world, a world that operates within human society, but remains hidden. The Redcliffe novels offer you the chance to look at strangers on the street and ask yourself, “What is their story? Who are they, really?” And that, for me, is the pleasure and the excitement of writing. When I set out to write Love Hurts (A Redcliffe Novel), I never planned to turn the story into a trilogy. It was simply the case that as I wrote, my characters became something vibrant and alive, and they demanded more attention. Then I had to write my first historical paranormal novel, The Darkness of Love. After that came more Redcliffe novels in the form of a second trilogy to form a six-book series, with the final book still in progress.

I hope you enjoy my easy reads

I hope you enjoy my easy reads, just as much as I enjoy writing them. My novels have short chapters, they are available in paperback format, and they are ideal for tablet and mobile reading. You can read them very easily during the daily commute or on your lunch break. And if you haven’t tried them yet, the first novel, Love Hurts (A Redcliffe Novel), is only 99p on Kindle. Have a lovely day, my friends!

Excerpt from “Love Kills (The Redcliffe Novels)”

“Jessica, please, I want to help you,” Jack said from the stairwell where he stood in shadow, “You are not weak. Please talk to me.”

Carrying my glass over to the table, I gulped the cold water and put my glass down, then turned to him. He was naked, and his body seemed to glow in the darkness, tormenting and tempting me at the same time. This was not a man. This was a vampire. I am in love with a vampire. Because of him I was almost killed, and now I am scarred for life, both physically and mentally. Because of him my life will never be the same again, and yet still I can’t leave him. And now, to top it off, I am having erotic dreams about his identical twin brother, a man who has made it clear he wants to sleep with me. What kind of a soap opera is my life right now?

“Jack, it’s late, or early, whatever, and I need to sleep,” I said moodily, “And I can’t sleep, because I keep having these stupid, ridiculous dreams.”

“What dreams?” Jack asked gently.

I swallowed, thinking about my words. I felt anger now, and frustration, but at least the tears were gone. I took a deep breath. If I didn’t tell him he wouldn’t leave me alone.

“I keep dreaming about Danny,” I said, heart pounding.

#BookTalk: Young Adult Werewolf Tension in “My New Master” by Catherine Green

Happy Hump Day! Here is an excerpt from my published short story telling the tale of how Redcliffe werewolf lieutenant Simon Bunce became the beast he is today…

This is taken from the werewolf short story “My New Master” in The Mirador Fantasmagoria.

The Mirador Fantasmagoria Short Story Anthology featuring LGBT Fantasy Book Writer Catherine Green

Excerpt from “My New Master

“You might be gay, Simon Bunce, but you will not disobey me. I am offering you a great gift. If you join my family here, I will offer you protection and excitement. Isn’t that what you want?”

Now I was confused. What was she talking about? I suddenly wondered if she was completely sane. My mother had been psychologically damaged, and I recognized the signs in Marie’s behavior. I swallowed nervously then stepped back away from the door and spoke in a calm voice.

“Ok Marie I am sorry but I’m not quite sure what you mean. Yes, I would love to be bar manager, but I will not give you any sort of intimate relationship. You are a beautiful and attractive woman, but I am only attracted to men, do you understand that?”

She smiled and laughed, throwing back her head. When she spoke her voice had changed, it was deeper, almost a growl, and I was suddenly frightened as my instinct kicked in.

“Oh Simon it is such a shame. Are you sure though? Perhaps you haven’t found the right woman yet? Perhaps you need a woman rather than a girl?”

I tried to move towards the door again.

“Marie thanks again but maybe I should go home. We can talk in the morning, ok?”

I opened the door and jumped as I almost walked right into another man. He was gorgeous! He was tall, about my height, with dark hair and amazing blue eyes. He smiled.

“I am sorry did I startle you? I was looking for Marie, is she here?”

I smiled and nodded, stepping to the side so he could walk past me. Before I could walk away Marie spoke again.

“Simon don’t go. Please come back into the office, I want you to meet my friend.”

My Journey to Being a Published Author

Since I started actively promoting my novels in my local area, I found an increased number of people asking me how I managed to get published. For me it seems quite strange in this world of eBooks and DIY publishing.

I have taken forgranted the fact that for many people, being a published author is still just a distant dream. It was my distant dream eleven years ago. My, how things change!

My Journey to Being a Published Author

I did not fully self-publish my books. I didn’t have the time or the finances to enable me in that arena. I spent several months writing to agents and trying to secure support for my Redcliffe novels. I began to submit short stories to competitions. And I researched the industry to figure out what my options were. It was the short story competitions that got me my ‘big break.’ My very first short story was called The Teen Game and got accepted for the Devils, Demons and Werewolves anthology by Bridge House Publishing. I must have found the competition details online, but I cannot remember where. It was a long time ago.

I had submitted a short werewolf story, My New Master, to a partnership publisher in Somerset called Mirador. The editor was compiling stories for a new anthology entitled The Mirador Fantasmagoria. She accepted my story, and then asked if I had anything else to publish. Apparently my genre and style of writing appealed to their business model. I was so excited! I sent an eager reply and an attachment of my first Redcliffe novel Love Hurts. And that was how I got published.

An editor and a mentor

My editor at Mirador very kindly worked out a practical financial agreement, and she gave me some guidance and advice on my manuscript at no extra cost. She really showed an interest in my work, and she gave me such a boost that my Muse went crazy! For the next eighteen months I spent every spare moment writing and editing, and soon had my first three Redcliffe novels published, all by Mirador. This followed a few years later with books 4 and 5 in the series, with book 6 still in progress.

I could not sustain the partnership publishing model without finding regular paid work. I have no access to what I would call ‘serious money’ that would enable me to continue publishing in this way. It is an expensive business, and we have to acknowledge that fact. Fortunately, I had a standalone novel accepted by a traditional publisher, Chances Press. I found their details in the monthly Writing Magazine that I subscribe to. Chances Press published The Darkness of Love and now here we are. My fiction writing has been neglected for the past three years, what with me moving house, being a single parent, working on our home, and coping with the pandemic. This year my novels are calling. They need some attention. I need to finish what I started, and then begin something new.

That was my story about becoming a published author. Now you tell me yours…

Tips For Strengthening Your Relationship

You may be happy in your relationship currently but are also curious about where you’re heading and how to make it even more rewarding going forward. Relationships are constantly growing and evolving, and you must learn to develop and change with them.

If you’re at a standstill or looking for ways to strengthen your relationship, then you’ve come to the right place. Apply these tips, and you’ll soon be on your way to experiencing more joy as a couple and taking your bond to the next level.

Pexels

Make Time for Each Other

One tip for strengthening your relationship is to make time for each other and not let your busy schedules get in the way of love. Spend quality moments as a couple and have some fun, which will be helpful, especially during the pandemic. Find activities you both enjoy doing and that put a smile on your faces. It may take you back to the time you first met and fell in love and help you to see again all the reasons why you love the person so much. You’ll find you feel more connected and in tune when you make time in your schedule for your relationship and each other.

Communicate & Talk More

Communication and exchanging ideas and opinions is essential and the foundation of any relationship. You must talk through issues or problems right away before letting them snowball and grow bigger. Strengthen your relationship by communicating truthfully and openly and always being yourself. Avoid raising your voice or letting arguments get out of control. Instead, try to find common ground and a resolution you both agree on. Communicating is a chance to get on the same page and ask for what you need in your relationship.

Make it Official

You may want to consider moving in together or getting married as a way to strengthen your relationship. Make it official by planning a wedding and committing to one another forever. You may be hesitant if you’re in a long-distance relationship and dating someone from overseas. In this case, look into obtaining a fiancé visa so your partner can come to the U.S. and you two can live a happy life together. If it’s your soul mate and someone you love, you won’t want to let them get away.

Take Care of Yourself

You can strengthen your relationship with your partner when you take good care of yourself and feel your best. You can better care for others when you put your health and wellness first. You want to be confident and not let insecurities interfere with what you two are trying to build. Practise self-care by exercising, eating well, and getting plenty of rest and sleep so you can be the ideal version of yourself when you’re with your partner. You may find you get along better and that you’re not as prone to snap at them when you’re well-rested and have a lot of natural energy. You can strengthen your relationship with your loved one by strengthening your relationship with yourself.

#BookTalk: There’s a Vampire Hunter in Town! New British Paranormal Suspense Novel

Several years ago I was asked by a fan when I planned to write a vampire novel set in my hometown. Not one to disappoint, I set about the task, and began to write a story from my vampire hunters’ series.

As yet untitled and still unfinished, here is an excerpt from the novel. I think this might be the year for me to return to my task.

Blue background, red lips with white vampire fangs. Text reads "Paranormal Author Catherine Green." LGBT Fantasy Book Writer of werewolf fiction, vampire stories, and polyamory lifestyle themes.

Excerpt from “Fall of the Vampire

“Dr Worthington,” the man said politely as he stood before her.

She looked up at him without smiling. He wore blue jeans and a red checked shirt.  His blue eyes sparkled with power, and his short blond hair was carefully styled. She knew immediately that he was much older than the mid-twenties age range that he embodied.

“Yes,” she said, “Who are you?”

“My name is Kian,” the vampire replied, “Mr Vance is expecting you. Please, follow me.”

He turned and walked back the way he came. Jennifer looked around the room, but everyone seemed preoccupied, perhaps a little too studiously. Narrowing her eyes, she stood and followed the vampire, her fingers flexing at her sides as she resisted drawing her guns too soon. The humans were most likely enchanted not to notice the vampires. It would cause chaos if Jennifer suddenly began wielding a gun and fighting with a powerful undead creature right in front of them. She found herself walking into a long corridor at the back of the building, and she noted the exit leading out onto the car park. Kian led her up a wide flight of stairs and stopped outside a brown painted door on the landing above the pub. This was it. He knocked once and then opened the door carefully. Jennifer had to follow. Drawing her guns, she squared her shoulders, let out a breath, and stepped into the room, keeping her back to the wall and the exit in sight.
