Keeping Your Life On Track When Going Through A Family Breakup

Breakups are never easy, but they are at their most painful when kids are involved. You will inevitably feel some guilt and question virtually every decision you make. However, it’s important to remember that splitting up isn’t something you’ve taken lightly. Deep down, you know that this is the right path.

Accepting this is the first step to ensuring that the breakup and subsequent transition to the next part of your life remains smooth. Here are some follow up days that will support your cause further still.

Get Expert Advice

Many couples try to split amicably without legal battles. However, going through a divorce when children are involved is very complex. Moreover, you need to protect yourself as well as the kids, which is why speaking to a family lawyer is advised. Otherwise, you could potentially leave yourself open to even greater stress and heartache.

Completing the process through official channels provides stability for you and your children. It’s not only about the financial outcomes. More importantly, it provides confirmation about living arrangements and custody. For the sake of your children, as well as your own, leaving this to chance simple isn’t wise.

Try To Promote Stability In Other Life Areas

Going through a breakup or divorce will naturally disrupt your home life and family life. Therefore, it’s crucial that you try to maintain stability elsewhere. For example, keeping your kids in school and maintaining your work schedule will have a positive impact. If nothing else, it shows that some aspects of your life are unchanged and under control.

Similarly, you should try to keep up your gym habits and let the kids continue to see their friends. When they can see that this life change won’t turn every aspect of their world upside down, the transition is easier for them. And as you start the next chapter in your lives, several aspects will already be in place.

Create New Memories

This part of your life will inevitably involve a lot of tears and trauma. However, you can still enjoy happy moments with your kids too. Fun family activities are still available to broken families. In some cases, you may be able to do this with both parents to show a united front. Most of the time, though, it makes sense to do this separately from your ex.

If your ex continues to take the kids out too, it will highlight that they can still have lots of fun. The only difference for them is that the activities will be split across two parts of their family. Either way, using positive experiences as a counterweight for the negative moments will make this time in your life a lot less traumatic.

Allow Yourself Time To Adjust

After going through a breakup, it will take time to fully adjust. You may need to enter a new home while the family dynamic will look a little different too. Do not punish yourselves if you face teething problems. And while you want to keep a positive mindset where possible, it’s OK to mourn the relationship.

Finally, do not rush into a new relationship. And if you do find love, try to keep things moving at a suitable pace. Introducing kids to a new partner so quickly could be quite disruptive, especially if it subsequently doesn’t last. When you respect this, as well as the other features mentioned, you can come out the other side of this situation in a better place.

What To Do When Your Business Has Impostor Syndrome?

Anyone that has taken a new job in a highly professional environment will know of the term, or at least the concept, named “Impostor Syndrome.” It’s not hard to see why this develops – when people around you are so sharp, so experienced and so good at their jobs, you might feel like the odd one out. Of course, this feeling tends to be rather illusory, because you might just have the wrong impression of everyone around you, or have fallen into the habit of downplaying your strengths.

Individually, this feeling can be manageable, even if it is a known issue. But what happens when you feel as though your business has the same issue? What if you feel insecure in your place within the market, or even able to present a stable competitive approach towards rivalling those in your market? After all, everyone you’re competing with would love nothing more than to deal with one less competitor.

In this way, a total and holistic approach towards inspecting your business is required. Let’s consider some steps you can follow to achieve the best outcome:

#MummyMonday Business networking event at Stateside Bar in Northwich, Cheshire article by Catherine Green for SpookyMrsGreen.com mindful parenting and modern pagan lifestyle blog.
#MummyMonday Business networking event in Northwich, Cheshire

Be Honest With Yourself – It Leads To Stability

The first step is always to conduct an honest self-assessment. Odds are, if you feel your business isn’t compatible with its perceived peers, you may have identified an issue without knowing it. This involves evaluating the company’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as identifying areas where the company may be underestimating its capabilities – it’s okay if you’re a small business for instance, but you need to be careful about the size of projects you take on. Companies should also consider their unique value proposition and how they differentiate themselves from competitors in the market.

This self-assessment can help companies build confidence in their abilities and identify areas for improvement. In other words – make everything objective and known. Don’t rely on vague feelings. This improves confidence, even if you’re relatively small in your market.

Earn Your Position, It Might Take Time

Building trust and credibility in the market is essential for overcoming impostor syndrome, like it is when you take a job personally. Companies should focus on delivering high-quality products and services, establishing strong relationships with customers and partners with goodwill always in mind, and providing transparent and honest communication.

By consistently delivering on promises and building those connections, companies can establish a consistent reputation. This slowly helps them build a client list, and in the long run, that helps them justify their presence.

Ask For Feedback, It Does Help

Seeking feedback from customers, partners, and sometimes even consultants can also help companies overcome a feeling of insecurity in the market. By encouraging feedback and listening to constructive criticism, companies can identify areas for improvement and gain a better understanding of their strengths and weaknesses too. This might be a simple survey after you perform a job, or encouraging honest reviews on your social media pages. You might even hire an essential consultant service or brand known to cultivate the best services, like the Beyond Law Group. It all counts.

Companies can also leverage positive feedback and testimonials to build confidence and credibility with future clients. Ultimately, there are no shortcuts to this. Sometimes, the impostor syndrome only goes when you know you’ve earned your stripes. So, don’t think of this feeling as a punishment or obstacle, but an opportunity.

With this advice, you’re sure to avoid business impostor syndrome.

#BookReview: Q (Hardcover Edition) by Christina Dalcher

Today I share a review for a book I read for my local book club. Read on to see what I thought of Q by Christina Dalcher.

#BookReview Q by Christina Dalcher reviewed by Catherine Green at SpookyMrsGreen.com mindful parenting and modern pagan lifestyle blog.
#BookReview Q by Christina Dalcher

My Review

I did not like this book, and yet I really enjoyed reading it. It is horrible because I can see the story beginning to unfold in real time, although I hope it never reaches that point. My daughters are similar ages to the children in the novel, and my emotions were well and truly tested. The subject and history of eugenics does interest me, and I have read a bit about it in the past, so I was interested to see where the story took me. This was a book club read and I do recommend it.

About the Book

Elena Fairchild is a teacher at one of the state’s new elite schools. Her daughters are exactly like her: beautiful, ambitious, and perfect. A good thing, since the recent mandate that’s swept the country is all about perfection.

Now everyone must undergo routine tests for their quotient, Q, and any children who don’t measure up are placed into new government schools. Instead, teachers can focus on the gifted.

Elena tells herself it’s not about eugenics, not really, but when one of her daughters scores lower than expected and is taken away, she intentionally fails her own test to go with her.

But what Elena discovers is far more terrifying than she ever imagined…

#BookReview: “Align: Living and Loving from the True Self” by Harmony Kwiker

My year has begun with a collection of self-help and inspirational books to review. Check out today’s book review for Align: Living and Loving from the True Self by Harmony Kwiker.

Book Review for Align: Living and Loving from the True Self

My Review

This book looks like a heavy read, but I got through it quite easily. It is written in a conversational tone that I found easy to follow, and the author imparts personal experiences to help describe the psychological profiles in the book. I enjoyed reading the book for its comparison between scientific and psychological factors of the human condition, and their connection to the spiritual and “other” world that we sometimes struggle to accept. There was some interesting information relating to childhood trauma that resonated with me, and I do feel that this book has enriched me and given me something to work with during my selfcare practice.

About the Book

‘She is the compassionate therapist and gifted spiritual teacher that we need to guide us on our journey through life. This book is a gift.’ Dr. Arielle Schwartz, author of The Post-Traumatic Growth Guidebook and The Complex PTSD Workbook.

There is a fundamental core within each of us where our true nature resides. Our learned patterns of relating to ourselves and the world cause us to get pulled off our center, coming out of alignment with our True Self. While these conditioned patterns were at one time useful, continuing to live from them prevents us from experiencing the ease and beauty of our own true nature. In this remarkable exploration of the human condition, Harmony Kwiker provides a clear and comprehensive map to rediscovering how to live and love from the True Self, including how to come back to wholeness by accessing your subtle energy body, how to embody your alignment in all of your relationships and how to explore sexual intimacy in a sacred way.

How To Put Together The Perfect Outfit

Whether you’re attending a formal event such as a wedding, starting a new job, or simply looking for a change, learning how to put together an outfit is a key skill. Once you’ve mastered this skill, you may also find that you’re more confident as a result, no matter what outfit you are wearing.

This is because, according to industry experts, “knowing your style, the colours you look best in, and the pieces that radiate your personality and lifestyle can create a unique ensemble that will leave you placid and fearless no matter the occasion.”

With that in mind, here are some simple tips you can use to pick an outfit that makes you look and feel great!

Photo by The Nix Company on Unsplash

Get to know your body

Firstly, let’s start by saying that every body is beautiful in its own way – meaning you should embrace every curve or ‘imperfection’ and learn to love them. In doing so, not only will you feel more confident, but you’ll also become a master at dressing for your body type. That is, you’ll be able to choose clothes that flatter you and show off your best assets – as opposed to hiding them away under baggy clothes. Learning more about your body type will help you “unlock a world of style that’s easier to navigate and build your confidence in knowing what really works for you.”

Pull an outfit together by focusing on the colour palette

It goes without saying that some colours complement each other more than others. Being able to identify which shades and hues blend together nicely will help you to put together a flawless outfit every time! If you aren’t sure where to start, try using a colour wheel as a guide. You should also pay close attention to the colours that suit your complexion or that make you feel good!

Don’t forget about accessories

Your outfit does not begin and end with your clothes, but for one reason or another, many people forget how important accessories are when putting together an outfit. This is because they can help give your look a clean, polished feel or showcase your unique personality. As a result, you should ensure you have a range of accessories to choose from when getting ready each morning. You should also look for ways in which you can personalise them, such as by buying piercing charms for your earrings.

Wear what you love, not what everyone else loves

When putting together an outfit, it’s easy enough to follow the latest trends or to wear the same things that everyone else is wearing. However, it’s also important to note that you should be dressing for yourself, not for others. That is, if these outfits don’t make you feel great, you simply won’t look as good or as confident! When you begin wearing what you love, however, confidence will radiate from you! As such, you should ensure your wardrobe is a reflection of you and the things you love. Embrace what makes you unique, and your style will be instantly elevated.

Imbolc Blessings this Witchy Wednesday

🌱Imbolc Blessings! Celebrate new life, hope and growth.

Can you feel Mother Earth beginning to wake after the long, cold winter? Our days will slowly lengthen this month, animals will begin to stir as they wake from hibernation, and you will notice snowdrops and crocuses flowering beneath the trees.

Imbolc Blessings by SpookyMrsGreen.com pagan lifestyle blog
Imbolc Blessings

Imbolc Blessings this #WitchyWednesday

Imbolc is a time to celebrate new beginnings. Are you birthing a project? Have you finally moved on from a challenging situation? Or perhaps you are literally expecting a baby. Let us welcome Spring, look forward with joy, and be thankful that we emerged from another winter season.

This pagan fire festival celebrates the Celtic/Irish Goddess Brigid, and I have felt an affinity with her throughout my adult life, more so since I had my children. She is fierce and vibrant, protective of those that she loves, and yet a totally independent spirit who knows her own mind. You can leave an offering for Brigid in the form of seasonal flowers, perhaps write her a letter or poem, and ask for her help if you are seeking fertility and affairs relating to the home and family.

Create your own magic this Imbolc with the help of candles, incense and green crystals. I feel that green aventurine, green calcite, or malachite would be nice to work with. I have a large chunk of green calcite that I will use in meditation today. Take time to sit quietly and contemplate all that has passed this winter and all that you wish to achieve during the next few months. Blessed Be!

Make Your Business a More Caring Brand with This Guide

A kind and caring brand is more important in some industries than others, but it’s always something that people will look for. They want to know that they’re going to be treated as people who have their own lives and their own thoughts and feelings. This is especially important if your business provides any personal services, whether you offer personal training or funeral services.

But even B2B companies should make an effort to show that they care about their customers and want to work with them to ensure they’re satisfied. Demonstrating that your brand is kind and caring can take time, but it’s worth it if it helps to create loyal customers. There are plenty of things you can do to achieve this goal.

Image from Pexels – CC0 License

Express Clear Values

If you want to ensure your customers think of your brand as caring, the first thing you can do is make sure they hear it straight from you. Having strong brand values is important for many reasons, and one of them is to tell your customers what your brand stands for and what they can expect from you. Letting them know that one of your brand values is to treat your customers well and ensure their satisfaction can help to make things clear. Additionally, your values might express that you care about things beyond your business and customers, such as the environment, your local community, or another important issue.

Be More Available

Being there for your customers is a must if you want to show that your brand is kind and caring. It’s difficult to show that you care about your customers if they can’t get a response from you when they need it most. One of the ways you can make sure you’re available is to offer different ways to get in touch with your customer service team. A customer service phone line might be one option, but there are other ways people could get in touch too. You could have a web chat for website customer service so that customers can easily get in touch online too. When you don’t have customer service reps available, a chatbot could provide answers to common questions or ensure someone contacts the customer when someone is available.

Email is another option you could offer and social media also works as a customer service channel. Additionally, you can offer self-service customer help with a knowledge hub that customers can access at any time.

Solve Problems Quickly

When a customer has a problem, they don’t want to spend a lot of their time trying to get it fixed. They want answers quickly so that the problem can be resolved and they can get on with their lives. Aiming to solve any customer issues as quickly as possible is one of the best things you can do if you want to show that your brand is kind and caring. You could have a team dedicated to resolving any issues, who could be separate from those who deal directly with customers when they get in touch with customer service. Having a set process for dealing with any problems or complaints could also help to speed things up. It’s smart to track the progress of complaints too so that everything is followed up and resolved.

Make It Personal

For many people, dealing with a company can be rather impersonal. They feel like they’re not really being treated as an individual but rather just a number in the list of customers. But if you want to craft a caring brand, you can show that you’re able to form individual relationships with each of your customers. Even if you have thousands of them, you can still communicate with them in a personal way and manage each of the relationships that you have with them. One of the most important things you can do is use a customer relationship management tool to get this right.

But it’s not just about being organized and using the right tools. It’s also important to make sure that when your staff is communicating directly with customers that they have permission to treat them like people. For an extreme example, take a look at how Zappos encourages their customer service representatives to do whatever it takes to create great customer experiences. This could mean talking to a customer about something that isn’t directly related to a sale or offering a generous returns window.

Be Compassionate

As well as thinking about how to make your brand’s approach more personal, consider the value of showing compassion. There are many times when being able to show empathy and compassion to customers is beneficial for your brand and its reputation.

Perhaps you offer a subscription service or long-running product and you sometimes need to deal with cancellations due to the death of a customer. This is one occasion when showing compassion to loved ones who may need to deal with this is essential. Showing compassion not only includes being empathetic and kind but also ensuring you have an efficient process in place for dealing with this issue. It’s one that will inevitably arise, even if it doesn’t happen often, and it makes things easier for everyone if there’s a predetermined way to sort it out.

Another example might be if a customer is late paying a bill or invoice due to financial problems. Being compassionate and offering solutions such as delayed payment or a payment plan could ensure you keep them as a customer and boost the reputation of your brand.

Treat Staff Well

To create a kind and caring brand, it’s not just your customers you need to think about. Treating your staff well is important too, and it’s something that your customers are increasingly concerned about. Many people don’t want to frequent a business where the staff isn’t paid well or treated fairly. Creating the right company culture and treating your employees well not only helps to attract the right talent but also shows your customers that your company cares. There are many different steps you might take to ensure you treat staff well, from offering fair pay to being generous with time off or being understanding of any personal issues that they might experience.

Know How to Apologize

Many companies can be reluctant to admit when they make a mistake. Even when they correct something that goes wrong, they don’t want to admit liability and would rather focus on the fact that they solved the problem. However, being able to admit that you got something wrong and apologize for it can be a lot better than trying to pretend that your brand never makes mistakes. People generally understand that no one is perfect and things can go wrong sometimes. Being able to apologize sincerely and in a timely manner can do a lot for your brand. It shows customers that you care about them more than you care about being in the right all the time.

Educate Your Customers

Your customers will often appreciate information that helps to make their lives better. Many brands use a blog for this purpose or might put out some other kind of content such as videos or a podcast. This can include content that focuses on your products and services, and how to make the most of them, but you can go beyond that too. For example, if you sell lawnmowers, some of your blog articles might be about how to use and maintain them. However, you could also provide more general articles about lawn care and gardening so that your customers get even more value from your content. Not only does this show you want to help out your customers, but it can also be a great marketing tactic.

Show Your Appreciation

Everyone appreciates a “thank you” now and then, especially your customers. Showing appreciation for them demonstrates that you understand your business wouldn’t exist without them. There are many ways to show appreciation for customers, whether individually or as a whole. From simply saying “thank you” to extending special offers and discounts or offering loyalty rewards, you can choose to recognize your customers in any way that works for you. Your customers will love that you recognize how they contribute to your brand, its culture, and its community. They’re more likely to remain customers if they feel that you appreciate them.

Raise Their Experience

There are often ways you can improve a customer’s experience. On some occasions, you might do this as an apology for something that has gone wrong. But there are other times when you might do it to show your appreciation for a customer. You could provide an upgrade or throw in a freebie as something to show that you care about them having the best experience. You might even extend invitations to special events to some of your customers to give them a continued experience with your brand and go above and beyond.

You can show your customers that you really care in various different ways. Think about what they want to see from your brand.
