One week until Halloween, a house full of costumes, and a middle-aged witch who is rapidly running out of patience!
Is there something strange in the air this October, or is it just me?
Cute, spooky and just a tiny bit furious!
I’ve been feeling a little more volatile than usual lately. One minute I’m bouncing around the house, feeling cheerful and productive, and the next I’m ready to unleash my inner demon because somebody has left a dirty plate on the kitchen worktop.
Welcome to life at SpookyMrsGreen HQ, where the supernatural is fascinating, the domestic chores are endless, and Mum might actually be the scariest creature in the house this Halloween!
Is It Perimenopause or Paranormal Activity?
October has been a busy month. Between work commitments, household responsibilities, healthcare concerns and the general chaos of family life, I’m feeling exhausted.
And let’s not even mention the price of diesel! Honestly, every visit to the fuel station feels like a personal attack on my bank account. I don’t need a haunted house to frighten me when I can simply look at the numbers on the pump.
I’ve started wondering whether my fluctuating moods could be connected to perimenopause. I’m at that age when hormones might be preparing to cause a little chaos of their own, although I haven’t established whether that’s what’s happening. Perhaps I’m simply overwhelmed by circumstances beyond my control. Perhaps the darker evenings are affecting my energy. Or perhaps the universe has decided that I need to embrace my inner angry witch for a while.
Whatever the explanation, I’m feeling everything very intensely right now.
Blame It on the Full Moon! ππΊ
As a witchy woman and paranormal enthusiast, I can’t help wondering whether the approaching full moon has something to do with my emotional rollercoaster this week. The Hunter’s Full Moon arrives on Monday 26th October, just three days away, and I swear I can feel the energy building already!
One minute I’m cheerful, productive and ready to embrace the spooky season. The next I’m channelling my inner werewolf, growling at the cost of living, domestic chores and anyone who dares to interrupt my precious quiet time.
Is it hormones? Is it stress? Or is my inner wolf responding to the approaching full moon? Of course, there’s no scientific evidence that the full moon causes mood swings, but folklore and spiritual traditions have long associated it with heightened emotions, transformation and powerful energy. The Hunter’s Moon traditionally marks a time of preparation for winter, when our ancestors gathered resources and prepared for the darker months ahead.
For me, it feels like an invitation to acknowledge everything I’ve been carrying lately and perhaps release some of that frustration before it consumes me. With Halloween approaching, the veil between worlds traditionally believed to be growing thinner, and a nearly full moon illuminating our weekend celebrations, the atmosphere couldn’t be more appropriate. Maybe I don’t need to understand every emotion I’m experiencing. Perhaps I just need to stop fighting them, enjoy some laughter with friends and embrace a little harmless Halloween chaos.
And if I happen to howl at the moon this weekend, well, you’ve been warned! πΊ
Halloween Cocktails, Costumes and a Little Chaos πΈ
This weekend we’re hosting a Halloween cocktail party at home, and I am absolutely ready for some fun. My daughter has taken charge of making the drinks, while I have volunteered for the extremely important role of sampling the cocktails with my friends. It’s a tough job, but somebody has to do it!
We’ve also been enjoying a little bargain hunting on eBay, where we’ve picked up a cute collection of Halloween costumes through online auctions. There’s something particularly satisfying about finding a fabulous costume for a bargain price, especially when everyday living expenses seem determined to drain the family budget.
I’m looking forward to dressing up, laughing with friends, enjoying some spooky music and temporarily forgetting about my never-ending to-do list.
My Halloween Mood Has a Dress Code
Speaking of Halloween outfits, I’ve discovered a rather appropriate T-shirt from my affiliate partner, Sassyspud. The LIMITED EDITION: Stabby Sheet Halloween T-Shirt has caught my attention, and I think it perfectly captures my current mood!
There’s something wonderfully ridiculous about an adorable little Halloween ghost with a slightly threatening attitude. Cute, spooky and just a tiny bit furious. Basically, me on a difficult Tuesday. If you’re feeling similarly frazzled this spooky season, perhaps you need a little Halloween retail therapy too.

Finding My Halloween Spirit Again
I love Halloween. It’s the season when my spooky lifestyle feels completely normal, the shops are filled with ghosts and pumpkins, and I can celebrate my fascination with everything strange and supernatural. But this year has reminded me that even witches need to rest. I cannot control rising prices, other people’s behaviour, unexpected health concerns or every little problem that lands on my doorstep. What I can do is make time for the people I love, enjoy a few laughs, dress up in something ridiculous and remember that life isn’t supposed to be one endless list of responsibilities.
So this weekend, I’m swapping domestic duties for Halloween cocktails, putting my worries aside and embracing my spooky side. And if you happen to encounter a slightly grumpy red-haired witch wearing a Stabby Sheet T-shirt, approach with caution. She probably just needs a cocktail, a good laugh and an early night!
