Unveiling the Mysteries: Ghost Hunting Adventures and EMF Detection Technology

As a seasoned ghost hunter, I’ve ventured into the darkest corners of abandoned buildings, ancient graveyards, and haunted locales in search of supernatural encounters. It’s a passion that ignites my curiosity and sends shivers down my spine with each investigation.

One of the most essential tools in a ghost hunter’s arsenal is the EMF meter. EMF, or electromagnetic field, meters are devices designed to detect fluctuations in electromagnetic fields. These fluctuations are often associated with paranormal activity, leading many investigators to rely on EMF meters as a primary means of detecting ghosts.

How do EMF Meters work?

But how exactly do these devices work? EMF meters operate on the principle that ghosts, spirits, or other supernatural entities may emit electromagnetic energy as they manifest or interact with our world. These energy fluctuations can cause spikes or anomalies in the surrounding electromagnetic field, which are then picked up by the meter.

Imagine walking through a haunted house, the air thick with anticipation and the hairs on the back of your neck standing on end. Suddenly, your EMF meter begins to beep and flash, indicating a significant increase in electromagnetic activity. Is it a ghost making its presence known, or simply a glitch in the equipment? That’s the thrill of ghost hunting – the uncertainty and the exhilarating rush of the unknown.

#BookReview: “Think and Grow Rich: The Empowered Woman’s Guide to Success” by Napoleon Hill, Forward by Wendy Wallace

I received a copy of “Think and Grow Rich: The Empowered Woman’s Guide to Success” by Napoleon Hill for Christmas as a gift.

Read my review to see if I recommend the book and where you can buy it.

“Think and Grow Rich: The Empowered Woman’s Guide to Success” by Napoleon Hill, Forward by Wendy Wallace.

My Review of  “Think and Grow Rich: The Empowered Woman’s Guide to Success” by Napoleon Hill

I loved this book! It is filled with positive affirmations that make complete common sense, there is a detailed action plan of how you can improve your life using simple actionable steps, and it sets out a guide for improved circumstances very succinctly.

The original book was written almost one hundred years ago and refers to the Great Depression and the America economic crisis of the time. I found it strange that so much of the author’s references still seem relevant in the 2020s compared to the 1920s. Has our society improved or are we just repeating old patterns of behaviour?

Well, I think if more people read this book and completed the action plan, maybe we could move forward collectively, and everyone could be happier in their lives. While it does recommend the importance of paid education and paying for services, it doesn’t mean you can’t make small changes if you already have limited funds. A lot of the content in this book relates to our mindset as human beings, and if we take a holistic approach to our perceived negative situations in life, maybe we could feel better.

I recommend this book!

About the Book

“STOP WONDERING WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE RICH AND START PUTTING MONEY IN THE BANK!”

First published in 1937, Think and Grow Rich, is one of the most influential and powerful books on the subject of creating wealth–bringing the wisdom and secrets of the rich and elite to anyone who wants to achieve great abundance in their own life. Thanks to an opportunity given to him by billionaire industrialist Andrew Carnegie, upcoming newspaper reporter Napoleon Hill spent over 20 years interviewing over 500 successful millionaires and global business titans, both men and women, in order to discover the formula for their successes. This formula, mentioned no fewer than 100 times within the pages of this book, has enabled millions of people, both men and women, to create massive wealth.

In this book, you will discover: – A quick and easy way to attract wealth, which you can do in less than five minutes a day and see results immediately. – The most effective way to get rid of the mental and energetic blocks which are keeping you from massive success in business and life. – The one, absolute must-have tool you need to ensure you attract more wealth than you’ve ever imagined…even in a bad economy. – One of the oldest (and most powerful) money-attracting techniques that will bring you the security and freedom you desire. – The most crucial element to attract more money in your life…and how you can master it with laser precision. It’s time to, not just get out of debt (and stay out). It is time to be wealthy.

#MummyMonday: What Shall I do with my Time?

Hello and happy #MummyMonday on the SpookyMrsGreen blog! Today I want to discuss best use of time and what I should do with my spare time now that my children are older, and I have more freedom to work for myself.

How do you use your time? Do you work a full-time job and never find time to do everything that you feel is necessary or that makes you happy? Do you have a settled work-life balance and would like to share your tips on how to achieve this balance?

Text reads, “What Shall I do with my Time? Join the discussion about how to be productive with free time at SpookyMrsGreen.com.” Image of LGBT fantasy book writer Catherine Green at a book signing event in Blackpool with her young daughter at SpookyMrsGreen mindful parenting and modern pagan lifestyle blog.
#MummyMonday What Shall I do with my Time?

What Shall I do with my Time?

My life has reached a crossroads. For the past ten years or so I have worked hard to try and sell my self-published books, to develop a residual income stream working from home, and to be available for my children and give them the care that they need as they grow. It hasn’t been easy. My books are still mostly hidden in the dusty recesses of internet bookshelves, patiently waiting to be discovered. But I am not patient. I want to be seen. I want to be recognised. I want to be a famous author!

But am I too old to chase my dream now? Maybe not. We live in an age where people are encouraged to keep trying, to keep learning, to never give up on their dreams. But how many of those dreams are truly achieved? I need to be realistic. I recently took on a part-time job working as a store assistant for a large discount retail chain that opened a store in our town, and I am very grateful for this job. It has helped to lift my husband and me out of financial lack and into a more settled position. We are nowhere near able to do everything that we would like to do, but we can at least feed our children and enjoy family activities without fear of how to pay for it all.

I am grateful for everything, but I want more

Am I selfish for wanting to be a famous author? Am I silly for holding onto this impossible dream? I know I am a good writer. I know that my books are well written and well presented to the best of my ability and the tools I have available. I also know how to write a business plan and I know that all I need is a money to pay for advertising to get my books seen and read by more people. But I am just one person, I have no inspiring story to tell, no PR hook that will get me in the right places at the right time. I’m just another average middle-aged white woman with dreams and a personal life story that the wider world is too busy to listen to. And I don’t say that in a negative way. I’m being practical. This is the way it is.

Back to the question: What shall I do with my time?

I currently spend a lot of time working on my blog. It has become a habit, and I’m not sure that it is a healthy habit. I also spend a lot of time scheduling social media content which again is not necessarily a healthy habit. I have tried to network with people and make connections over the years, but nothing has ever really stuck. I jumped onboard with new author support groups, I networked with indie authors, I have attended lots of online training courses and last year I even got a Digital Marketing Skills degree.

But now I need to learn how to make it pay. I don’t want to work a full-time job for a corporation. I want to earn a decent income from the sales of my books, and I want to keep writing and publishing more books. Should I give up and accept that it’s never going to happen? Or should I keep trying to “make it?”

#BookReview: “Nothing But The Truth: The Memoir of an Unlikely Lawyer” by The Secret Barrister

I recently read “Nothing But The Truth: The Memoir of an Unlikely Lawyer” by The Secret Barrister for my local book club, and I borrowed the book from my local library.

Read my review to see if I recommend the book and where you can buy it.

My Review of  “Nothing But The Truth: The Memoir of an Unlikely Lawyer” by The Secret Barrister

This was a very entertaining book to read, and I can see why it is so popular. It made me laugh, it made me cry, and it opened my eyes to the internal workings of the British justice system, most of which did not surprise me. This a good book for true crime enthusiasts and those interested in the law profession. I was interested to read about the gender inequalities that still exist among barristers and judges, and about the accused individuals that provided so much entertainment in this book. It was easy to read but there are a lot of footnotes explaining legal jargon and citing references, so be prepared for some additional research as you get sucked in to the world of The Secret Barrister.

About the Book

The Sunday Times bestseller

Full of hilarious and shocking stories, the Secret Barrister’s memoir Nothing But The Truth tracks their transformation from hang ’em and flog ’em austerity-supporter to celebrated, campaigning, bestselling author.

‘Masterful, compassionate and hilarious’ – Adam Rutherford

In a diary that takes us behind the scenes of their middling ambition, Nothing But The Truth charts an outsider’s progress down the winding path towards practising at the Bar. By way of the painfully archaic traditions of the Inns of Court, where every meal mandates a glass of port and a toast to the monarch, and the Hunger Games-style contest for pupillage – which most don’t survive – here is the brilliant reality of being a frustrated junior barrister.

With a keen eye for the absurd and an obsessive fondness for Twitter, SB reveals the uncomfortable truths and darkest secrets about life in our criminal courts.

#BookReview: “Acceptance: The Beginning” and “Acceptance: The Reality” by Rebecca Heidt

I received copies of “Acceptance: The Beginning” and “Acceptance: The Reality” by Rebecca Heidt from the publisher.

Read my review to see if I recommend the books and where you can buy them.

My Review of  “Acceptance: The Beginning” and “Acceptance: The Reality” by Rebecca Heidt

I received these books from the publisher in return for an honest review. I decided to review the books together on my blog since they form a collection that will eventually include a third book. While I struggled to read the books at first, I did enjoy the story, although it didn’t capture my imagination completely. I enjoyed reading “Acceptance: The Reality” more than I enjoyed “Acceptance: The Beginning.”

The story follows a mystical adventure set in modern-day Stockholm, and our protagonist, Selena, lives a solitary life with one close friend, her beloved Uncle (who hides secrets that we learn as the story unfolds), and a steady job in a bar. She enjoys casual dating of both men and women, making this a nice LGBT story that introduces an alternative lifestyle as a natural progression for the individual.

The focus of the Acceptance trilogy is about emotions and how they control our lives. Selena struggles with extreme emotional responses to events in her life and we later learn the reason why she is different. We also learn with Selena that emotion is normal and that we can learn to live with our mood swings rather than be controlled by them, and sometimes we just need to open ourselves up to new people and new experiences.

I recommend that you read these books with an open mind and recognise that they are written differently to mainstream fiction but that doesn’t mean that they are worse for it. The literary world needs to open up and welcome diverse writers, and the Acceptance Trilogy is a good example of contemporary fantasy fiction for the twenty-first century.

About the Books

“Acceptance: The Beginning” by Rebecca Heidt

Selena Wilson seems completely normal on all accounts except for her family’s secrets, glowing eyes, unusual strength, and other random occurrences. Now, as others’ paths start to intertwine with hers, the uncertainty within her begins to bare its fangs. Especially when a mysterious girl named Skylar walks into to her life, and her world is turned upside down. Inner peace is her goal, but will she be able to find it as she is forced to accept the unthinkable while discovering who she really is?

“Acceptance: The Reality” by Rebecca Heidt

With Selena’s journey continuing into new unknown areas, hard truths and emotions are surfacing. She has to learn how to navigate them while staying focused on what needs to be done becomes harder and harder each day.

Between seeing Skylar almost daily and lines drawn on the ground, things are about to take some unexpected turns.

Out manoeuvring Ryder and his pawns may be more complex than it looks. Trust, loyalty, and alliances will be tested. But is that all this rebellion is about? Or is there something more?

In the second book of the LGBT fiction Acceptance trilogy, Acceptance: The Reality, Selena realizes she must accept her new way of life- but does she feel ready to give in to it?

Buy the books: Amazon; Waterstones.

#MummyMonday: How has Work from Home changed since the Pandemic?

Do you work from home? Have you tried working from home and since returned to the office following relaxed health and safety restrictions during the pandemic?

Read my blog post and join the conversation about working from home versus working in the office and share your thoughts in the comments.

Image of a person sitting at a table working on a laptop with glasses folded up next to them. Text reads, “#MummyMonday How has Work from Home changed since the Pandemic? Join the discussion at SpookyMrsGreen.com.” LGBT fantasy book writer Catherine Green at SpookyMrsGreen mindful parenting and modern pagan lifestyle blog.
#MummyMonday: How has Work from Home changed since the Pandemic?

How has Work from Home changed since the Pandemic?

I have worked from home as a freelancer for the past twelve years, with a few casual part-time jobs outside of home at different times. I now have a part-time job working as a store assistant, but I still work from home with my book writing and blog writing career. It seemed that there was a wealth of possibility for working mothers that needed flexibility due to childcare when we began to explore the convenience of Zoom meetings, Microsoft Teams meetings and what could be achieved working from home when compared to working in the office. This is a challenge I have considered for a very long time, way before the Covid-19 pandemic, and I was pleased for the people that found their work and home life vastly improved with a more relaxed approach to the work habit.

My experience searching for work-from-home jobs

Having spent some time applying for more demanding jobs recently, I am noticing that the option to work from home seems to be diminishing, unless you are self-employed. If I apply for a job as a social media manager, for example, the job description invariably states that I would need to spend some time in the office with the possibility to work from home. Reading between the lines, I know that the flexibility I would require would most probably not be available. I have instead chosen to work a minimum wage job for which I am over-qualified, while continuing to chase the author dream, for which I receive no payment, simply so that I can work from home and be available to care for my children and my pets.

Now that my children are older and more independent the childcare is not so much of an issue. What I do struggle with is organising time off with them during school holidays, getting them to and from after-school clubs, being available at weekends when they need to see me and being available to attend medical appointments and parents’ evening meetings. Fortunately, I can fit these easily around my part-time store assistant job, but what about all the other parents who experience a lot of personal stress trying to juggle work and domestic responsibilities?

Have we moved forward with attitudes to work?

Wouldn’t you think that we have moved forward now, with new attitudes and better tools for working? Apparently not. The traditional nine-to-five office model still stands, but with added responsibility of constant emails via phone and tablet, endless demands on personal free time, and people feeling torn between progressing their career and being a good parent. I have observed all these behaviours from conversations with working people and stories I hear in the media.

What choices do you make?

Tell me, what choices do you make, or have you made between domestic responsibilities and professional obligations? You might not have childcare concerns, but our pets require a lot of attention and I think we need to address this when animal charities are struggling to cope with surrendered and abandoned pets. And then there are people who care for elderly family members that live at home but need supervision. Our lives are complicated. Why can’t we fit work around family without all the stress?
