#AtoZChallenge – Day 23 – Werewolves

Werewolves had never really held my interest before I wrote the Redcliffe novels. Yes, I watched a few horror films and read a little folklore and legend, but I was simply not interested in the creatures. They were boring compared to my beloved vampires. Oh, how wrong I was! It took my determined and arrogant Redcliffe alpha, Danny Mason, to show me the true passion of a werewolf. Now I admit I am smitten!

Danny Mason is introduced in my first novel Love Hurts (A Redcliffe Novel) when he returns home to Redcliffe after undertaking a four-year undercover police operation with his identical twin brother, Jack. The very fact that one brother is a werewolf while the other is a vampire causes consternation in supernatural circles. Danger and animosity seem to follow the Mason brothers wherever they travel, and they reluctantly pull Jessica into their dangerous lives.

WerewolfThe Redcliffe werewolf pack is in turmoil as we move into book two, Love Kills (A Redcliffe Novel). During the absence of their true alpha, Danny Mason, they were ruled by his devoted lieutenant Simon Bunce. The weaker wolves are reluctant to trust their formerly absent master, and they hold onto the ideal that Simon is their alpha. Simon openly displays his allegiance to Danny, as does Sally  Frost, third in command of the Redcliffe pack. Gradually, Danny begins to regain control of his wolves, although it is more through fear and subservience rather than any sense of affection.

Love Redeems (A Redcliffe Novel) brings us the final test of Danny Mason’s alpha status in the Redcliffe werewolf pack. His wolves are suspicious of his intentions towards the young witch, Jessica Stone. They both fear and despise her, and the female wolves are keen to assert themselves into their master’s bed to strengthen their own positions within the pack. Jessica has to overcome hostility and violence, while simultaneously trying to save her vampire lover from his vengeful mistress, with the help of alpha Danny Mason.

  1. Sounds like an interesting series. My love for werewolves comes and goes. Sometimes I devour books about them and other times they lose out to other creatures.

    • Yes, werewolves are interesting characters. I find them more interesting the more I write and read about them… Then again, I am also beginning to discover the wider world of shape shifters, and that is a fascinating place!

  2. I’ll add these to my list. Thanks for bringing them to my attention.
