Best Books to Take on a Halloween Holiday

Itโ€™s finally happening! My family and I are jetting off to sunny Spain next week for our first family holiday abroad, and I cannot wait to relax by the hotel pool with a good book in hand. Of course, being a Halloween enthusiast and lover of all things spooky, Iโ€™ll be taking some thrilling reads with me to fit the season.

So, I thought Iโ€™d share my top picks for anyone else heading on a Halloween holiday. Whether you’re lounging by the pool or cosying up indoors, these books will keep you company during those tranquil holiday moments.

Best Books to Take on a Halloween Holiday

1. Waterstones Books of the Month for October

First up, if youโ€™re looking for the best new releases, check out the Waterstones Books of the Month for October. Youโ€™ll find something for every mood and taste, including gripping thrillers, haunting mysteries, and even some feel-good fiction if you need a break from all the spookiness. Waterstones has an excellent selection this month, and itโ€™s a great place to start if you want something fresh and engaging.

2. Halloween-Themed Reads

If you’re like me and love to embrace the spirit of Halloween, why not take along some classic Gothic novels? Titles like โ€œDraculaโ€ by Bram Stoker or โ€œFrankensteinโ€ by Mary Shelley are timeless and perfect for the eerie autumn season. For something more modern, I recommend โ€œCurse of the Reaperโ€ by Brian McAuley or โ€œThe Serial Killerโ€™s Son Takes a Wifeโ€ by Michael Libling, both guaranteed to send shivers down your spine.

3. Paranormal Romance & Urban Fantasy

For those who love romance with a supernatural twist, thereโ€™s nothing better than diving into an urban fantasy series. My Redcliffe Novels are, of course, perfect for this! Set in a quaint seaside town with a dark supernatural undercurrent, youโ€™ll follow Jessicaโ€™s passionate and perilous journey as she becomes entangled with werewolves and vampires. If you havenโ€™t yet, why not pick up โ€œBite of the Wolf (A Redcliffe Novel) Book 6โ€ for a gripping holiday read? Itโ€™s available now and makes a fabulous companion by the pool.

4. Cosy Mysteries

Sometimes you need something lighter, but with enough intrigue to keep you hooked. Cosy mysteries are an excellent choice for holiday reading, especially if you want to stay in the Halloween spirit without too much intensity. Agatha Christieโ€™s novels are always a favourite, and โ€œMurder on the Orient Expressโ€ is the perfect whodunit for your travels. For a modern twist, โ€œThe Thursday Murder Clubโ€ by Richard Osman is another fantastic option.

Pack a Few Good Books this Halloween Holiday

This Halloween holiday, donโ€™t forget to pack a few good books alongside your sun cream and spooky accessories. Whether you prefer dark and thrilling or light and cosy, thereโ€™s something for every Halloween-loving reader. And if you’re still undecided, pop over to Waterstones and pick up a treat!

Happy Halloween reading, and Iโ€™ll see you when Iโ€™m back from Spain!
