Open your manuscript or a book you are reading, and let’s have some fun!
Go to either page 7 or 77 of your manuscript. Count down 7 lines, then copy the next 7 lines to your status. When I first did this, I tagged seven authors to share their books, but since we are all busy, I am leaving it as an open invitation for whoever wants to play. Add your 7 lines in the comments below, or tag me in your blog post/social media.
Here are my 7 lines, taken from my third novel Love Redeems (A Redcliffe Novel):
“Hello, Jack.” I answered, fighting to keep my voice firm.
“Jessica,” Jack replied, “Where are you? What happened?”
His voice sounded tinny, and I realised he must be driving and using the hands free kit. I heard the faint sound of traffic rushing past him, and a car horn blaring.
“I’m in the forest,” I said, “Above the wolves’ lair.”
Jack was silent for a moment.
“Are you alone?” he asked.

From page 7 of the first book of my (as yet unpublished) Bad Boy Wizard series for kids:
‘The very fact you don’t understand tells me you’re not mature enough to undertake training.’
Charlie glared. ‘Are you saying I’m too stupid?’
‘No!’ The Magician took a deep breath. ‘Let me try and explain. Magic is all about manipulating Nature – and Nature is all connected, right? So when you change one bit of it, you have to make sure you don’t change the rest of it in a way that’s going to cause trouble. You also have to learn how to protect yourself against unforeseen consequences…’
Charlie’s eyes glazed over. He wasn’t interested in this boring waffle about manipulating Nature.
Ooh, that sounds fun! Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you! Sorry it turned out to be more than 7 lines – it was only 7 lines before i hit post.
Don’t worry, we can blame it on technology 😉
