Ah, how wonderful it is to daydream! It sometimes feels like my only form of escape, the one activity that keeps me sane on those days when I feel every inch the downtrodden housewife.
I know I made my choice to live like this, and I know the reasons why, but still I yearn for a little something more. And then I remember how lucky I am to have such a wonderful family and a safe and easy life, and the whole cycle starts all over again. Daydreaming is far better.
#AtoZChallenge: D is for Daydreamer
One of my favourite daydream scenarios is the one where I own my VW Camper van, the classic bus that we associate with hippies and dreamers. Ah yes, I can just see her tootling down a winding country road, with me behind the steering wheel, my children and dog sitting beside me. We will travel all over the UK, and beyond, in search of adventure and mystery. I want to visit old stone circles and historic buildings. I want to discover hidden caves, beautiful countryside walks, and fabulous beaches. I want to use all of the history of the British Isles to further embellish my novels and stories.
And then one of my children starts to scream, another one throws something across the room, the dog begins to bark at nothing, and I snap back to reality and find myself standing at the kitchen sink with a bowl full of dirty dishes. A quick fix of the situation, pacify the children, back to the kitchen and my daydream can resume… It’s a wonderful life, and all that!
Could I tempt you to read my new short story, The Wolf and the Fairy, available to download now? It would make me very happy, and bring me one step closer to achieving my dreams… Thank you!
See you tomorrow, for the next letter in the #AtoZChallenge.

Daydreaming is an investment in our future. A preview of the journey we must embark on to reach where we aspire to be. I’m a daydreamer myself and take pride in being so 🙂
Keep dreaming and creating reality from the visions you see.
It sure is, and thank you for your support 🙂
Daydreaming is such a useful ability – probably designed to save our sanity 🙂

It has saved my sanity on more than one occasion, I can assure you! 😉
Daydreaming can be so much fun. Writing my daydreams down has somehow turned them into goals. It’s certainly keeping life interesting.
Yes, they are sometimes the best form of planning, don’t you think? Thanks for stopping by 🙂
I don’t want to daydream my life away and I’m taking action to bring more traveling adventures into my life. Is there anything you can do to bring small excursions into yours? I hope you do.

Me neither, and yes I am doing, thank you for asking. We regularly take family walks in the countryside, exploring hidden gems in the North West of England, and last weekend we took a trip to the seaside while the weather was nice. Small steps, and all that 🙂
This is a great dream to have! I’m glad I discovered your blog when you visited mine through the A to Z challenge.

Thank you! 🙂
I remember daydreaming a lot in school. Now the only time I day dream is if I’m sitting in the sun, preferable on a beach.
I often think daydreaming is a prerequisite to writing. The best writers are daydreamers living in two worlds simultaneously. 😊 Ooh, I love your idea of traveling all over the UK in a camper van though! I love the UK. Well, the US would be fun too but I have a strange affinity for England. I often find myself in the same cycle of gratitude for being home with the kids and longing for something more. Good thing we have our dreams. Great post!
