There are no zombies in the Redcliffe novels. Well, not yet at least. I have completed the trilogy that introduces us to Jessica Stone and her tumultuous relationship with the supernatural Mason brothers. I plan to begin writing book 4 in the Redcliffe series later this year, once I can rework the story I originally planned. I changed the ending to my third book Love Redeems (A Redcliffe Novel), and now it has thrown everything into disarray!
I chose to discuss zombies today for three reasons. The first is that this is the final day of the A to Z Challenge, it has been a long month, and I am too exhausted to come up with a better word for the letter Z. The second reason is that zombie stories are having a resurgence in popularity. Readers seem to be clamouring for a change in their supernatural preferences, perhaps a little bored with the glut of vampire and shape shifter fiction currently flooding the market. I assure you that the Redcliffe novels are not boring, and they do not follow a generic pattern.
My third reason for writing about zombies today, is that I plan to try my hand at writing a novel in this genre. A couple of months ago we had some intensive road works in my local town, and there were reports of human bones being uncovered beneath a road next to an old graveyard. Walking past the site as I frequented my daughter’s preschool and our local shops, I was struck with inspiration for a zombie love story of all things! That will be an interesting experiment…
Well, that concludes the A to Z Challenge for April 2013. I do hope you have enjoyed reading my posts, and that you are suitably interested in the Redcliffe novels and the complex characters that inhabit my fictional Cornish town. Don’t forget to catch up with my fellow #atozchallenge bloggers. You will find some weird and wonderful articles, and we can all make new friends. And finally, may I say a huge thank you for all of your comments and support during the #atozchallenge.
