Happy National Pet Day! Do you have a fussy dog who refuses to eat the meals you serve?
I have a fantastic homemade recipe to share, plus exclusive offers from my favourite affiliate partners, saving you lots of money on pet care.

Save money with homemade meals for your dog
A friend recently shared her homemade recipe for feeding a fussy dog. She has a Shih Tzu with lots of attitude, and she’s gorgeous! On her day off work, my friend batch cooked the food and separated it into portions to freeze so that she can defrost what she needs each day. This recipe provided 12 x 200g bags of food for a total of £8, compared to £38 for 14 x 200g bags of fresh pet food from a mail order company.
Here’s the recipe:
1 x pack of beef mince, 1 x pack of pork mince, 1 x pack of turkey mince (all high in fat)
Boiled Potatoes & Sweet Potato (you choose the quantity)
Cooked Rice & Pasta (you choose the quantity)
1 x bag of Frozen Mixed Vegetables
Here’s how to prepare the meals:
Fry each pack of meat separately with a mix of the potatoes, rice, and pasta, adding the frozen vegetables to finish. Leave it to cool, then chop it into smaller pieces and separate into portions that would provide a suitable meal for your dog. Put the portions into freezer bags and store in your freezer, defrosting them individually when you require them. Simple!
