Ever felt like you donât spend enough time with your children? Perhaps youâre always working due to the demanding job you have, or maybe you donât plan ahead to the future enough which means youâre always missing opportunities to have fun with your kids.
If you think that youâre missing out on some quality time with your family, then why not consider some of the following tips?
Reserve some time in your schedule for your kids
If you arenât already doing it, try and reserve some time in your schedule to hang out with your kids. This doesnât take long to do either. Perhaps you schedule some time to play with your kids once they come home from school, or maybe you plan a bedtime story with them at night. The goal here is to try and organise your time a little better so that you have more opportunities to bond with your child.
However, we know that this isnât possible for everyone. Some parents just donât get to see their children very often unless itâs the weekend or a bank holiday. Perhaps they just donât have enough hours in the day when theyâre free, or maybe theyâre so exhausted from work that they canât put much effort into hanging out with their children.
If this is the case for you, then weâd suggest putting some notes around to let your child know that youâre still thinking about them. For example, a small note in their lunchbox along with their favourite snack can be a great way to remind your kids that youâre thinking of them. You could also consider calling them after school to make sure theyâre safe and on their way home. You can even video chat with them if you have time to.
Make good use of holiday time
Itâs also a good idea to make good use of the time that you can spend together. For example, if you and your child both have a week of holiday, then why not take them on a trip? Park Holidays UK is a great place to start since it helps you book a convenient holiday that you donât need to spend much time thinking about. Of course, you could always plan your holiday so that youâre going someplace that you know your kids will enjoy.
The best way to do this is to always keep an eye on your schedule and your childâs holiday dates. Every school has different start dates for their holidays, but they do tend to be around the same period. Kids are usually off four times a year with the summer holidays being the longest one. This is the perfect time for you and your kids to spend some quality time together.
You could plan to just hang out, you could try new hobbies, or you might even want to book a holiday together. Going on a trip is one of the best ways to bond with your child and it can be transformed into an educational experience based on where you go. Itâs usually best if you go for a couple of days, hence why we find it important that you try your best to sync up your holiday dates with those of your children.
Do daily tasks with your children around
Daily tasks can include anything from cleaning the house to cooking meals. Anytime youâre doing something that will be repeated on a regular basis, you should consider getting your kids involved for some quality bonding time and an extra pair of helping hands. Not only does this help you communicate with your children, but itâs also a great way to teach them how to perform certain tasks at home. For example, you can teach them the basics of cooking and preparing food, you can educate them on how to clean their clothes, and itâll get them used to doing chores around the house.
There are a number of good reasons why you should encourage your kids to do chores. It helps them build a stronger work ethic, it reinforces the idea of respect, and it also teaches them how to work as a team. Donât underestimate the value that doing these daily tasks together can give. Itâs a great way to spend time with your family, to bond, and also to pass down important knowledge and skills to your kids.
While these arenât the only ways to spend quality time with your kids, they can certainly make it a lot easier to bond with your family.
