The UK’s most prestigious award for fiction in English, the Booker Prize has been a benchmark for outstanding literary excellence for over five decades. The 2021 longlist is a fitting reflection of an extraordinary year, tackling subjects ranging from the relationship between cultural and individual identity to the effects of enforced isolation and the nature of artificial intelligence. Pitting works from established literary heavyweights Kazuo Ishiguro, Sunjeev Sahota and Richard Powers against relative newcomers, discover the year’s most talked about fiction.
The shortlist will be announced on Tuesday 14 September and the winner crowned on Wednesday 3 November.
