We are back to school this week, hooray! It has been a long, relaxing and very nice summer holiday, but now we are looking forward to the new school term, the change of season, and all that comes with it. I certainly will not miss the heatwave that we had, it was awful! My garden now resembles something rather wild after all the hot sun and the occasional heavy rainfall, so that it is on my to-do list while the children are back at school.

It feels good to get back into routine. I never appreciated how the school calendar helps to keep a rhythm for children and their parents. When I worked in a full-time job before I had children, that was my routine. Now I work around school hours, and around the holidays, and naturally my work has stalled a little over the summer. I have a lot of writing to catch up on, among other things. Enjoy your first week back at school, my friends, whether that be as teachers and support staff, or parents, or something else. And now we prepare for Halloween!
