Two weeks in and this summer holiday feels very long! I have been with my children all day every day since they broke up, and now my youngest daughter is not sleeping properly at night and keeps coming into bed with me, so I don’t even have the luxury of my own space in bed at the moment. It feels very claustrophobic, I have to say.
At least this weekend I have the chance of a break, of sorts. I am exhibiting at the Rosemary Douglas Mind, Body, Spirit event in Northwich. The venue is a short drive up the road from our house, I know where it is, I know what I am doing (sort of). Mostly I will be relaxing behind my book table, waiting for the ringing in my ears to settle. When I return home in the evenings it will be accompanied by shouts of, “Mum!” “MUM!” “I want a cuddle!”
I love my children, but I also love my sanity. Ah, well, enjoy it while lasts, as everybody keeps telling me. If you would like a sane conversation with me, please meet me in Northwich. Otherwise you will have to shout over the din of my children as they fight for my undying attention.
