The Writer Returns to Work

I have decided to effectively end my unofficial maternity leave after having my second child. I stopped doing several freelance jobs while I was pregnant because I was finding it very difficult to cope with the stress on my body and a variety of domestic factors. During the second half of 2013 the only business aspect I focused on was the launch of my fourth novel The Darkness of Love.

Now I am feeling ready to get back out there, and get back in the game. The game of writing that is! I have been doing a little freelance work during the winter months, and I have been promoting on a lesser scale than previously, but now I need to revive several projects and basically get my ass in gear (sorry, been reading American novels recently!).

This month is a good time to be returning to work for me. So far I have featured in the May issue of Writing Magazine, I have an author interview over in the virtual garden of Mary Martinez, and my big event of the month is my attendance at the brand new Middlewich Literary Festival. Today I spent a lovely afternoon judging entries for our short story competition, and I thoroughly enjoyed the exercise.

And, finally, I have returned to one of my completed novels to do some editing before I send it out to interested publishers. Look out for The Vampire of Blackpool, hopefully coming soon!

How about you? What plans and activities are you getting back into at this time of year?
