Wow, I haven’t posted on here for over a week, that is crazy! It feels like I have been away for ages! Actually we had a few short excursions as a family. We went up to the North East coast of England and visited Robin Hood’s Bay in Yorkshire.
How gorgeous is that view? I absolutely adore visiting the seaside, and I truly believe that the British Isles has some amazing scenery that we very often take for-granted. We had endured a long and tedious detour on the drive up North, and after sitting behind the steering wheel for 4 hours I was ready for a walk. I got my wish!
After scaling this extremely steep hill to reach what is called the ‘Old Village’ of Robin Hood’s Bay, we could finally get onto the beach. But first, we had to greet my father-in-law and his two friends. They had completed a coast-to-coast cycle ride, travelling 192 miles from St Bees in Cumbria to Robin Hood’s Bay in North Yorkshire. It is an impressive feat!
While they were having a well-deserved pint at the pub, I wandered down to the beach.
We finished the day with a delicious three course meal at our hotel, and a good night’s sleep before heading back home the next day, bicycles in tow. I leave you with a sentiment I saw on a bench that overlooks the North Sea. I feel it is very poignant in today’s busy society:
